I'll make it a quick one..promise. We met on a whim. He had just come back from 1 yr. in Iraq & I was trying to get out of 7 years of bad luck. We were straight out of bad relationships. Instant
besties. Talk on the phone for until dawn, hang out for hours, and laugh like it's
no ones business. Two months later he left to Korea for 1 yr. After he came back we dated for a year, long distance only seeing each other one weekend a month. After the year of long distance dating we moved in together. Married 4 months later. I would've married him on day 2, which I told him. No regrets. One year later he left to Afghanistan.
One year later he came back. Our daughter holding the flag while we wait for the plane to make it's way to our city!

1 year later (5 hours ago)...he's gone again. Back to Afghanistan.
I miss him so much. My heart is breaking. But when it's real true love you do what you have to. In my case I wait. I have 2 years of waiting under my belt so far. I would wait a lifetime and beyond. If It's In God's Will.

What a love story...your daughter's beautiful. You're right...when you know, you know. This is how I felt about my husband!
ReplyDeleteI give you so much credit for holding it together with your husband gone so much. My brother-in-law was in the military for 20 years and I know how hard it was on my sister. Thank God for men and women like your husband who make the sacrifice to go to Afghanistan and thank you to the spouses who are left to take care of things at home.

ReplyDeleteThis is too sweet! I've often thought that it takes a special person to have a military spouse. You often hear of what the not so nice spouses have done while the military spouse is away...thanks so much for sharing the positive side! I'll pray for his safety!
ReplyDeleteThis brings back memories. I know exactly how you feel. Although my relationship didn't work out (we were young), I would do it all over again (wait for him). It's amazing that they have the courage to put themselves out there on the frontline to keep us safe. I'm very appreciative to your husband and everyone else who serve for our country. It take a BIG person to do so.

ReplyDeleteAdrianna, I just adore your writing. It is so honest and raw. It really speaks to my heart. And, what you have to endure while your husband is away I'm sure is very hard and painful. I'm going through a separation from my husband of 20 years and everyday is SO hard. He's the one leaving, so I have no choice, much like you. There is a blog called "Kind Over Matter" that is so inspirational. Check it out. Their posts lift me up when I'm having a bad day! ReplyDeleteIt's not the same thing I know, but when my husband and I did 1.5 yrs of long distance, my heart was broken only to be mended when I did see him. Then it'd break into even smaller pieces all over again when we were apart. But it told me that I'd wait till the end of time for him.
