As if it's not bad enough I just unloaded a few things i was hoarding the weekend I bought the craigslist stuff, I am heading out to buy a freakin sofa. $50. I keep thinking bad idea b/c I still need to reupholster a few chairs. But $50!! Someone tell me it's a really bad idea. Please!
Some fabric & pretty paint and this could totally replace the brand new sofa we just got in our living room.
**UPDATE**
The Old Ball & Chain (What I call hubster when I'm angry {which btw I'm fuming}) was supposed to get off of work at 2 p.m., well he didn't. He brought his @ss home at 4:30 p.m.! You see a problem right?! Same problem I ran into. I think you know the outcome. I'm off for some retail therapy. First stop The Mall. Yep & Old Ball & Chain w/ kids in tow are coming. He has some making up to do.
p.s. I swore to myself I wouldn't be too hard on him. He leaves in a week. He'll be gone for a year. Back to Afghanistan. *tears inserted here* Please pray for his safety.

We have a very similar sofa like that in our basement. They are not the most comfortable but are so solidly and well built. Will last forever except for the occasional reupholstering to update it. Can't beat the beautiful classic lines. Will never go out of style. Any color linen would be the way to go.
I am getting to know your particular aesthetic, I say go for it if you have the room to store it until you can get to it.

You should be able to list the new couch on CL for $300 (to ensure you get your $200-250 back). if you think you can and it will sell, go ahead and get the $50 one. i think it will look great reupholstered, especially if you refinish the legs, too.
i'm jealous about the ram, and you shouldn't have told me about the back seat. i will have you driving all over this city picking stuff up! (not really . . . but maybe.) :)
Oh wow, did you get it? It looks totally amazing, although I can understand it would be hard to oust the one you recently bought. But really, it's a stunning piece for an amazing price.
It's a great idea! That sofa is awesome! 50 bucks... you have to get it! I think I have a little of that "hoarder" thing going on too! Except I prefer to call it aggressive collecting! Nice post!
I would do it but ONLY if it passed a pretty strenuous sniff test :) Because I can't STAND smells!
I love it!!! Oh the potential it has....
Is it antique or is it a reproduction? If it's antique, buy it, but if it's a reproduction NO. But if you love it buy it. Follow your heart.

You crack me up! Did you get the sofa? I really like the lines of it. If you feel like the new sofa is not right for your space...you should go with your gut feeling. $50 is a steal! It's the reupholstering that might get you in the end though, if you choose to do that.
BTW...thanks for your sweet comments. It's nice to know I was missed! :p lol...

That sofa has great lines and I'm sure you ca make a profit on your other sofa. Spend good time with your ball & chain while he's around. One year is so long...
Awww, boo. You'll find another one, though.

p.s. Sending good thoughts your way for the safety of your husband.
